One of the most striking fossils in our lineup, this Mosasaurus skull fossil measures 70 cm in length.
With minimal restoration and exceptional preservation, it is a stunning piece. The fossil comes with a custom-designed steel stand, specifically crafted for this Mosasaurus skull.
Mosasaurus was a large marine reptile, with some species reaching lengths of 10 to 18 meters. It was a distant relative of modern lizards and snakes, having evolved from terrestrial reptiles and fully adapted to a marine environment.
Characterized by its elongated body and flat tail, it could swim swiftly through the water with powerful propulsion. Its limbs had evolved into fin-like appendages, allowing for efficient swimming.
Upon closer inspection of the Mosasaurus jaw, you can see that it had teeth not only in its mouth but also deep in its throat. These additional teeth, known as pharyngeal teeth, were used to securely swallow prey, pushing it down into the throat to prevent escape.

Cretaceous Period (Mesozoic Era)
The Cretaceous Period (about 145 million to 66 million years ago) was the final era in which dinosaurs thrived, and it marked a significant period of evolutionary development. Warm climates prevailed during this time, with large reptiles dominating the land, sea, and sky. In particular, Mosasaurus reigned as a top predator in the marine food chain.
The Cretaceous Period also saw the emergence of flowering plants and the further evolution of birds, laying the groundwork for the rise of mammals. The period ended with a mass extinction event, likely caused by a combination of an asteroid impact and volcanic activity, which wiped out many species, including the dinosaurs.
