Its most distinctive feature is the long, crest-like structure that extends from the back of its head. This hollow crest is believed to have been connected to the nasal passages. Recent studies suggest it may have been used for making sounds, visual communication, or possibly for regulating body temperature.

Late Cretaceous Period

The Late Cretaceous was the final stage of the dinosaur-dominated Mesozoic Era. The climate was warm, and sea levels were high, submerging much of what is now North America and Europe. On land, large herbivorous and carnivorous dinosaurs thrived, while angiosperms (flowering plants) rapidly evolved. In the skies, pterosaurs and early birds flourished, and in the seas, large marine reptiles like Mosasaurs were dominant.
